10/25/13 - "Photo Bomb" Layout

Hi all!
Good Friday to you!
I am off today so I am trying to catch up on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" on Netflix and get some scrapping done!
I love having a show I really like on in the BG when I'm scrapping; it really helps get my creativity on!
This is what I came up w/ today:

"Photo Bomb"
Journaling: "A cute picture of Panini, Madi, and I gets photobombed by a scary clown head!"

I got a little carried away w/ this page, LOL!
But it was a lot of fun to make and used up a lot of old supply!

This was created for 3 blog challenges:

> "My Scraps and More" Sketch challenge - Sketch #51

> "Punky Scraps" Stamp Challenge - I used 2 different stamps on here: the black flowery circles and the calendar stamp, which I stamped on white paper and cut out

> "Use it Tuesdays" Creature Challenge - there is a cat (animal creature) and a clown (scary creature) in my picture. Also the old items are part of the "Use it Tuesday" criteria to use old supplies:
the purple frame, the "Hello Friend" sticker, the eyes sticker, the "Boo" paper embellie, the Halloween tag, the stamps, and the title letters.
These items are anywhere from 1 year old to 7 years old & the stamps have never been used before.

Hope you guys aren't getting tired of my scary clown pictures! If you are, I warn you there are more to come! Muahahahahahahahahah!

LOL!
Thanks for stopping by!

10/24/13 - SIWAS: "The Nightmare Before Christmas"

Hello there!
Over at "Scrap it w/ a Song" we are doing something a bit different: instead of inspiring you w/ a song we are inspiring you w/ movie art!

Here is the inspiration picture:

nightmare-before-christmas-715x1024

Love this movie!
And the picture really inspired me!

I was inspired by the Halloween theme, the black BG, the orange-yellow-purple color scheme, the large circle, and the word "Nightmare".
Here's what I ended up w/:

"The  Stuff of Nightmares"
Journaling: "Madi and I posing w/ one of the two new additions to our Halloween
decorations. 9.17.13"

FYI - except for the BG paper and the white label sticker...everything on here is from an old Halloween paper stack I bought about 7 years ago. Not sure if you've noticed but I have been using it here and there on a lot of my recent layouts. I have been trying really hard to use it up! I'm doing very well, but not sure if I will be able to use it all up this year.
I'm actually having a lot of fun w/ it!

I hope you will have fun w/ this challenge!
Please don't forget to share  w/ us what you come up w/!
Remember you have until October 31st to submit your inspired project for this or any of the other October challenges!

10/23/13 - CPC : Childhood Game - Risk

Hey there!
It's time for another challenge!
"Child's Play Challenges" is bringing you inspiration via the game "Risk":

I was inspired by the maps on the game board. It made me want to create a travel page.

But what trip should I scrap? Hmmm...well I never scrapped any of the pictures from the first cruise David and I ever took so that's what I did here. I also included a picture of a map that includes the places we went.

"Our First Cruise"

Journaling: "Our first cruise ever: Cabo, Matzatlan, & Puerto Vallarta"
(The date is printed on the bottom of the picture of David and I - September 30th thru October 7th, 2006)

I scanned one of the 8x10 pictures we bought on the cruise and shrunk it down to 4x6.  I printed it so that it didn't fit the whole 4x6 area of my photo paper because if I had made it fit, it would have cut some of the picture off. This caused a lot of white space on the sides so I cut that part off....making my 4x6 not actually a 4x6 any longer. The map of Mexico was an image I found online and printed on photo paper.
BTW - that BG paper has been in my stash for at least 10 years!

As I was scrapping this picture, I had a weird feeling come over me... not sure how to describe it exactly. All I know is I kept thinking, "Man, a lot has changed since then!" I have not only changed in appearance, but the person I was 7 years ago is definitely not the same person I am today! Not even close! I have been through a lot in 7 years, good and bad, but I am happy to say I like who I am today! I even think I look a lot better now than I did back then! LOL!

Okay, you know what comes now: stop by the CPC blog and share your inspired creation. You have until October 31st!

10/18/13 - Foto Friday and A Kitty Layout

Today is Foto Friday...
or in my case Foto Bomb Friday, LOL!

All I wanted was a picture w/ our cat, Panini,  since I don't have any.
Then Madison jumped in, which was fine w/ me...in fact I loved it because she and I don't have many pictures together! But after the picture was taken, we noticed we had a visitor.
One of David's scary clown props totally "photo bombed" us! Hahahahahahaha!
I could have cropped him out of the photo but Madison and I thought it was funny and we should keep it "as-is".
BTW - notice how Panini isn't even looking at the camera?
So much for a nice picture w/ our cat!

This was taken Wednesday after work so I am a bit disheveled

Speaking of our kitty.
I made a layout of her last night:

"Love The Way You Lie"
Journaling: " I always get a kick out of the way Panini sleeps LOL! 10.10.13"

I created it for the Scrapbook.com  "October Four Categories" Challenge - Category #2: Color Challenge - Red, Orange, and Yellow.
*Includes twist of, other than neutrals, black, brown, kraft, cream, or white, use ONLY our three colors, red, orange, and yellow

Another layout using up lots of scraps and hoarded items (that journaling tag is at least 7 years old)!

Hope you're having a great Friday and, if I don't get to chat w/ you again, hope you have a great weekend!

10/17/13 - SIWAS: "Thriller"

Good Thursday morning to you!
"Scrap It W/ A Song" has a new challenge up today.
The song to inspire you is "Thriller" by Michael Jackson.

I was inspired by the lyrics: "You see a sight that almost stops your heart".
It reminded me of the time I walked into Madison's room and found her lying down with her head hanging over the bed, her long hair flowing down. The sight of her like that totally scared me and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack!
I know your probably wondering why that particular sight would cause so much fear in me...
I agree that without further explanation there would seem to be no reason why I would almost "pee my pants" at that sight! LOL!
But I'm sure once you read the journaling you'll understand...

 "A Scary Sight"
Journaling: "Thanks to movies like "The Ring" and "The Grudge", the unexpected sight
of long, dark hair freaks me out! I walked into Madi's room and found her like this. I swear I almost
had a heart attack! Of course Madison thought it was funny and started hamming it up!
October 16th, 2009"

Yup!
I'm a big chicken when it comes to horror movies!
I try not to watch them too often, but because David loves them so much, and I love spending time with him, I watch a lot more then I should, considering my fear!
To be fair, I don't always "watch them" as much as I hide my face behind a pillow or my hands and take peeks here and there! LOL! But, what I do watch, can sometimes really freak me out! "The Ring" and "The Grudge" and their long, dark haired characters have forever been engraved into my mind as super scary!!! I was so glad when Madi decided she wanted her hair short because too many times I have been scared by her long, dark hair...especially since she loves to wear it so it covers her face! ::shudder::

This layout is full of old supplies.
Only the BG paper and the letters are new, meaning they are less than a year old.
Everything else ranges from 2 years to 7 years old!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Make sure you stop by SIWAS to share your inspired project!
Remember you have until October 31st to complete a project for this challenge and/or any of the other October challenges!

10/13/13 - My Scraps and More Sketch #50

Hey there!
A quick stop in during my 4 day weekend to share a layout I created for the current  "My Scraps and More" Sketch Challenge; Sketch #50.

Here's the sketch:

"A New Journey"
Journaling: "Candid pictures of Joseph at his Senior photo shoot. This signifies the start of his last year of high school. The introduction into adulthood. The start of a new...Journey"

I had so much fun layering strips of different washi tape and stickers to emulate the layers of  "strips" in the sketch!

(Also created for the SB.com October Music Challenge - Category #3: Artist
Use the name of a band, group or solo artist on your layout. I chose the group Journey.
*No Twist)

Besides this layout and the one I shared on Friday, I have created 2 other layouts.
Hoping to add more to that list before the weekend is over.

Thanks for stopping by!

10/11/13 - "Grow Old With You"

Hello, hello!
I wanted to drop in and share w/ you my latest layout.

I made this last night and I love it so very much!

The picture on the layout is a picture of my hubby and I back in 2003.
So 3 years after we started dating.

I hope to eventually better narrow down the time period.
But for now, we'll just leave it as "a long time ago"!

"Grow Old With You"

Journaling = the lyrics to "Grow Old With You":

I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad
Carry you around when your arthritis is bad
Oh all I wanna do is grow old with you

I'll get your medicine when your tummy aches
Build you a fire if the furnace breaks
Oh it could be so nice, growing old with you

I'll miss you
Kiss you
Give you my coat when you are cold

Need you
Feed you
Even let ya hold the remote control

So let me do the dishes in our kitchen sink
Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink
I could be the man who grows old with you
I wanna grow old with you

This was created for many challenges-

SB.com Challenges:

> October Music Challenge - Category #1 Lyrics
The lyrics are of "Grow Old With You" written and sung by Adam Sandler in the movie "The Wedding Singer".
(we say that's our song)
*No twist

>October Hoarders Challenge - The brads, the large blue/white/kraft flower, the title letters, photo corners, and "happy" banner (under the pic) are all over a year old.
*No twist

>October Scraps Challenge: The music PP, the black paper, the blue/white/kraft flower (last on the sheet), and the white paper matting the lyrics are all scraps.
*No twist

Blog Challenges:

> "Use it Tuesday" - SCRAPS, PIECES, ODDS & ENDS
Scraps info listed above

> "Twisted Tuesdays" - Lots of layers and Metal
You can clearly see the layers, the metal is the 4 brads

Whew!
I kinda had them all in mind while creating the layout but, other than having the Music Challenge clearly on my mind, I just let loose and had fun creating it!

I have a 4-day weekend this weekend so I am hoping to have more scrappy
fun!
Have a good weekend!

10/08/13 - "They Say It's Your Birthday"

My son turned 18 this past summer!
On June 14th, 2013 to be exact!

Sunday night I finally got around to scrapping the photos from that day.

The celebration was small as we were not at home when the event took place.
I felt bad about not having a big blow-out for such a milestone but as is true to my son's mellow, laid-back nature, he was a-okay w/ it!

"They Say It's Your Birthday"

I had trouble w/ this layout because I wanted it to look birthday-ish but not baby-ish! I have this great Nikki Sivils Birthday collection, but it fell more on the baby-ish or more girl-ish side. I asked my son for assistance since it was a layout about him. I had told him I wanted to use the brown paper so that it would go w/ the chocolate cake, plus brown is a masculine color.  He took a look at the papers I had been going through and chose the BG paper you see.  We also agreed that accessorizing w/ the Nikki Sivils line would give it the birthday feel w/out being too kid-like.

I had planned on calling this layout "They Say It's your Birthday" from the start as I was creating it for the "October  Music" challenge over at SB.com. Category #2 = Use a song title on your layout.  So how handy was it that one of the Nikki Sivils' cut-outs had "It's Your Birthday" on it?! All I had to add was the "They Say" part and my title was complete! Unfortunately the cut-out was a bit girly, but whatcha gonna do, right?

In the end, both he and I were happy w/ the layout!

BTW - I scraplifted another layout to come up w/ this design and I want to give credit to the original work of art:

And finally...I figured out what my talent is:  Crooked layouts! Yay, me! LOL!
Seriously though,  I swear no matter how hard I try to line up my stuff it always come out crooked! Ugh! And it always leans to the right.  Maybe because I am right-handed?
Oh well, I have learned to embrace the imperfections!

Thanks for stopping by!

10/03/13 - SIWAS: Album Cover Inspiration

Hello there!
Over at "Scrap it w/ a Song" we are doing something a bit different: instead of inspiring you w/ a song we are inspiring you w/ album art!

Here is the inspiration picture:

262

And what I came up w/:

 "Happy Halloween"
Journaling: "There were 5 clowns in our yard. 3 were real 2 were
fake. Can you tell which was which?"

A couple of pictures of last Halloween. David had built two clown mannequins to add to the fun! He set them up in the yard so that when he, Madison, and Joseph, were standing around in their clown costumes it would appear to be a yard full of clowns!! BTW - if you think this is scary, wait until you see this years set-up! ;0)

I used an old sketch from "My Scraps and More" :

Also, I had fun pulling out a lot of old product to use on here! Everything on here is approximately 7 years old except for the yellow and white washi tape, which is approximately 3 years old, and the  black BG which is approximately 1 year old.

Hope you have a chance to stop by and share w/ us what you were inspired to create!
Remember you have until October 31st to complete this or any of our October challenges!

10/02/13 - CPC: Barbies

Hey there!
Just wanted to let you know there is a new challenge up at "Child's Play Challenges"!
This week's inspiration is Barbie!!!

I love Barbies! Not only were they one of my favorite toys to play w/ when I was a little girl, but I collected them way into my adult years! I don't collect them anymore because I don't really have any place to display them, but I still have what I did collect in boxes in my attic in their original unopened packages.
Maybe someday I will dig them out and see if they are worth anything!

My daughter plays w/ Barbies too!
But her really love is "Monster High" dolls, so I decided to scrap those instead.

 "Monster High"
Journaling: "Barbie was the popular doll when I was a child. For Madison
it is "Monster High" dolls. 2013"

Madison has a lot of them!
In fact some of them, I believe 4 of them,  aren't even in the picture because they came out of the second series of dolls. Madison was adamant that we only include the dolls from the first series in the picture! I laugh because that is something I would do as well! (Sometimes she is so much like me it's scary!  LOL!) She is also is the one who set them up to get their picture taken. The idea of hanging the "ghost" doll from the ceiling was all hers!

Madison doesn't actually play w/ them so much anymore; they're more like a collection. I stopped buying them though because once I was done completing one series for her, more came out! It got to the point I couldn't keep up! Plus at about $20 a doll, it was getting expensive. I think I'll just leave the rest for others to buy her for either Christmas or her birthday. And when she gets to the point she doesn't want them anymore, I'm going to keep them!

I used up a lot of scraps on here: the 2 black, the pink, the white, and the shaped paper at the bottom are all scraps. Also, a little tidbit, the title and Monster High embellie were printed off of the internet. I simple googled "Monster High Images" and found what would work on my layout and printed and cut them out.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love the internet?!?!?
Well, I do!

Okie, dokie!
You know what comes next:  I invite you to come play along w/ us!
You have until October 31st to get your entry in!

03/27/23 Planning with Urban Journal Season Ink

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
