12/28/13 - "Madison Vasquez - January 2006"

Good Morning/Day/Evening to you!

Just sharing my latest layout (layout #124 for the year):

"Madison Vasquez - January 2006"

A layout of my now nearly-12-years-old daughter when she was 4 years old.
This is a collage of her "4 year old" pictures taken at JC Penney or Sears (can't remember which). This is back when I used to take my kids to a professional studio to get their picture taken.
Once they entered school and the school started taking their annual pictures I never went back to a professional studio.

I used the December 1st sketch from the "Stuck?!" blog:

I was also inspired by  the current challenge over at "City Crafter Challenge" blog - inspiration = *child*:

Thanks for stopping by!

12/26/13 -SIWAS: "Happy Xmas"

Good After-Christmas-Day to you!
Not sure how many blog visitors I'll get today, but if you are reading this, I am sharing my layout for the latest challenge over at "Scrap It W/ a Song".
The challenge song = "Happy Xmas" by John Lennon
Here are the lyrics.

"Our 1st Gingerbread House"
Journaling: "Since I love Snoopy and there were 4 individual houses we went w/ this cute
set we found at Knotts. We had a lot of fun making them despite the fact that all but David's fell apart.
The worse was Joseph's which we dubbed 'Murder Scene' - 2012."

I have to admit I was a little lazy w/ this one. With the holidays so close and so much prepping needing to be done, I didn't really have a lot of time to scrap so I didn't really pay attention to the lyrics of the song but instead went simple and just focused on the fact that the song mentioned Christmas. I scrapped pics of my family's first time ever attempt at building a gingerbread house last year.

The layout itself is very simple as well. As I said I didn't have a lot of time, but what I lack in difficulty I think I more than make up w/ in bling! :0)
I love my sprinkles of self-adhesive bling! Plus used up more stash!

As for Christmas 2013?
It was a success!
Lots of family, friends, and fun! But hard to believe another one has come and gone!

Hope yours was wonderful as well!

We hope you enjoy this special showcase!

12/17/13 - SIWAS: "All I Want For Christmas"

Hello!
Since last Thursday I have been busy taking care of my sick husband.
Poor guy.
He has had some kind of bug that has had him down and out and I have been spending most of my free time taking care of him, trying to make him comfortable, and keeping him company. The fact that he let me take care of him is a great indicator of just how sick he was since he is not the type of man to allow a woman to "wait" on him.
But I have been and I am glad to do it.
Obviously I would prefer him not to be sick, but I have enjoyed my time taking care of him because it is such a rare occurence for him to allow me to do so.

Today he went back to work and he did okay; he actually made it through the day!
Thank goodness!

While I was taking care of him I didn't have much free time.
I haven't scrapped.
I even missed a Design Team deadline.
I felt bad about it but I did alert my team to it in advance.
Today I was able to scrap, and although it's late, since I hate to not complete an assignment, I created the layout.

The layout is for the latest challenge over at "Scrap It W/ a Song".
The song is "All I Want For Christmas" by Mariah Carey.

"Just What I Wanted"
Journaling: "12.8.12 Madison writes her letter to Santa"

I was inspired by the lyrics "All I Want For Christmas..." and decided to scrap pictures of my daughter writing her letter to Santa Claus telling him all that SHE wants for Christmas.

I was also inspired by the following blogs:

"My Scraps and More" - Sketch #59

Although I missed the deadline to enter...

I am on vacation until 12/26/13 so I can get ready for Christmas.
I am really looking forward to Christmas this year!! :0)
First time in a very long time, well actually... since I can remember!

Although I have a couple of more posts that I will be putting up before the year is over, I wanted to share w/ you that I made my goal of 120 layouts for the year!! Yay me!
In fact, the layout I just shared is #121!

Some other great news, I recently won 2 blog challenges: "Artful Delight and "ARTastic" and will be getting goodies in the mail from them and I was chosen as a favorite over at "Twisted Tuesdays". I found out kinda late because due to my having been pre-occupied, I have been behind on my blog reading.  Some day I will actually put the badges on my sidebar!

12/16/13 - Stick It Down's First Sketch Reveal

Hi All!
As you know I was chosen to be on a new Sketch Design Team called "Stick it Down" .
(See original announcement here: SID Team)
We weren't going to have an official reveal date until January 7th, 2014, but it was decided that was way too far away and we wanted to share some scrappy fun now!
So we are giving you a sneak peek into our SID Bloggy World!

Today there is a reveal of 3 different sketches:
1 Single Page
1 Double Page and
1 Card

Since I am on one of the Single Page Layout teams I will be sharing w/ you that sketch and my creation.
Warning my layout is more of an "inspired-by" layout then a "follow-the-sketch-exactly" layout, LOL!

Here is the sketch:

And my interpetation of it:
"Tree Pick Up 2013"
Journaling: "David, Joseph, Madi, and me.  December 8th, 2013.
Picking up our Christmas tree. And yes David and Madi are wearing shorts, LOL!"

Hope you like the sketch and find it inspirational!
Don't forget to stop by the SID blog to see the rest of the sketces and projects from the rest of the Design Team members!

Also if you want to play you have until 8PM EST on January 6th to link up with us for a chance as a future Guest Designer!

12/11/13 - CPC Challenge: Rudolph

Challenge time over at "Child's Play Challenges"!

This week's challenge is "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer":

Here's my layout:

 "Moose Mischief"
Journaling: "Being silly posing w/ a fake moose outside of a store
at Oak Glen. Dec 2012"

I was inspired to scrap these pictures my son and I took w/ a fake deer, errrr, I mean...moose, in Oak Glen. I was also inspired to make the background Christmas-y.
I was able to use 2 old rub-ons and 5 old Christmas papers on this!

Please stop by the blog and show us what "Rudolph" has inspired you to create!

And don't forget that the CPC Blog Hop is still going: CPC Blog Hop.
If you haven't stopped by, please do!

12/09/13 - "2 Short Cuts"

Hey there!
Another weekend gone and a few days closer to Christmas! Yikes!
How's the shopping going?
Mine is right on track!
I was able to get some of it taken care of this weekend.

I was also able to get some scrappy time in!
Here is one of the layouts I completed:

"2 Short Cuts"
Journaling: "November 2010 - I got a new look; trading my long, curly hair for a short,
straightened, bob. Madison loved it so much she requested we get her hair cut the same
way. We loved our new looks!"

I used the following sketch from "Let's Get Sketchy" as inspiration:

My layout was also inspired by 2 Scrapbook.com challenges:

> November 4 Categories - Category #1: Product Doilies: Use at least one doily on your layout.
Includes twist: Layers - all or part of one of your doilies must be one of at least 5 layers on your page. My doily is part of 6 layers. My layers are as follows: BG paper, large circle, grey/white/pink journaling card (as a BG layer), brown flowered paper, doily, #2 sticker, title.

>November Movie Challenge - Use the title of a movie from the decade you graduated. I choose a movie from the year I graduated; 1993. I chose the movie "Shortcuts". Includes twist of using at least three sentences of journaling.

Okay that's all from me today.
Hope you had a good weekend and will continue to have a good week!

12/04/13 - Child's Play Challenges Blog Hop

Hello!
"Child's Play Challenges" is having a Blog Hop that starts today and ends December 24th.
If you are here for that reason welcome!

If you're not but would like to join in on the fun, then you may want to start at the beginning...

The theme of the hop is  "A Few of My Favorite Things".

What comes mind when you think of your favorite play things? Or maybe your child's favorites? We'd love for you to share!!

As for me, this is what comes to my mind:

Journaling:"Growing up I loved fashion & drawing; my career aspiration
was to be a fashion designer. No surprise Fashion Plates was my favorite toy"

I literally played w/ this toy for hours every day! I could not get enough of it!
Funny thing...today I have absolutely no interest in fashion. You'll usually find me in pajamas or sweats and a T-shirt, with my hair in a bun and no make-up! Boy do things change!

Alrighty then, here are the rules for the blog hop (a re-cap for those of you who already know them):

1. Visit each blog along the hop and leave a comment so we know you were there
2. Go back to the "Child's Play" blog when you are done and tell us that you completed the hop
3. Create a LO based on a favorite play thing (include a photo of it if you can or tell us what it is) and link up to the "Child's Play" blog using the special "blog hop" linky
4. Very important!...become a follower of Child's Play Challenges

You have until December 24th to complete the hop and enter your LO for a chance to win!
A winner  will be announced before the new year.

Before you go... I also have a prize for you:

To enter for my prize, not only do you have to leave a comment, something you're already doing because of the blog hop, but you must become a follower of my blog.
When commenting please let me know that you have done this. If you are already a follower, make sure to let me know.

Again, you have until December 24th to enter.

Your next stop on this hop = Deanne

Have fun and good luck!!

12/02/13 - A "Top 3"

Good Monday morning to you!
I'm sad that my fantastical 4 days of  time off is over but I have some good news to share!

I was selected as one of the Top 3 over at "Scrap Our Stash"!
There were nearly 40 entries!

Here is my winning layout:

"Girl Scout Vest"

Yes, you've seen this layout a couple of times before:
1. when I originally shared it
2. when it was chosen as a "highlighted" layout on another challenge blog.
So, sorry for the repetition.

I did do a couple of new layouts, but darn it I can't show you just yet!
So besides my little announcement my blog post is pretty boring, LOL!
Hope you all have a great day!

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
